For the Super Nintendo game of same name, see Super Turrican (SNES).
Super Turrican is a conversion of Turrican released in 1992 for the Nintendo Entertainment System in Europe only. The entire game was developed by Manfred Trenz alone.
Details[]
Rather than being a straight port, this title mixes in the story and gameplay elements from both Turrican and Turrican II: The Final Fight, as well as incorporating some changes of its own. Gameplay-wise, the mechanics are more similar to the second game, though a run button has been added along with the ability to jump out of Gyroscope form in mid-air, vastly increasing the player's maneuverability, though the Gyroscope now bounces off of enemies as well. Additionally, the Multiple and Laser can now be upgraded up to 5 times, and the Power/Energy Lines have been heavily reworked. The player now has invulnerability frames after getting hit as well and they are given unlimited time to complete each stage.
As for the stages themselves, many of them have been heavily altered from the originals, with changes including new or altered mechanics and hazards, modified layouts, certain split stages and moved around or entirely removed/replaced boss encounters.
